What? Aang and Katara kiss?! Blasphemy! We all know Zuko and Katara are the one true pairing on that show! How dare the writers! Zutara is the only ship possible for those characters! Screw that comic! Screw Legend of Korra now! How dare they!
(okay. I don't believe any of that. I just wanted to remind people that shippers like that are the horrible cancer of fandom and this kiss just made their little brains melt.)
I don't mind shippers until they begin to act as if their own fan-fiction-fantasy some how becomes worth more than canon. I mean, I've thought "oh wouldn't it be cool if so-and-so and so-and-so got together?" but I've never been upset when that didn't happen or was in fact contradicted.
It's like when any other portion of fandom begins to feel entitled about their own expectations and it's certainly not limited to shippers.
I dunno. I always associated the term shippers for the more fanatical fans who demand a pairing mot matter what the story suggests. Well.. unlessf the canon has a clear indication.. ya know.. like Robin and Superboy or Steve Rogers and Tony Stark. I mean.. what sane person can argue against those couples.. amirite?
I actually don't quite agree that Tim and Connor are a canon couple. Though it does seem easier to smudge those lines than many other 'couples' these fans see. Plus, I was arguing they should have been made an actual canon couple in the reboot as an answer to Marvel's Young Avengers actual young gay couple Wiccan and Hulkling and being modern and up with the times with gays in media like the popularity of Glee. Really, they've altered many other characters far far more drastically. Making Tim and/or Connor gay or bi wouldn't have been as much as change as some of those. Though I guess adding the new gay character of Bunker is better than nothing.
Anyway, going back to the subject at hand, I totally shop Toph x Daredevil. And I'm waiting until I can buy the 1st Avatar comic volume on sale or waiting until I can buy the first and second before the new series starts. I got enough comics to read and sort as it is. Though maybe I can talk a friend into buying one and I can read it earlier there.
I really don't like that Aang and Katara kiss!!!
