Erm...
From the fact that he's conspicous by his absence in the modern New 52 universe, and the fact that everyone mentions Q-Core all the time, but LexCorp only rarely, it's blindingly obvious that Luthor's modern-day New 52 absence is a big, and very intentional story point...
"Flippin' 'eck, Tucker!"
Lex Luthor had his own run in Action Comics very recently so he hasnt been out that much
Whoa, Ms. Randolph. Please be careful throwing around the term "unamerican." That just really stuck out at me as being a very silly yet serious charge to level against a storyline where Luthor wins the presidency.
Stegron - hmm, good point, I hope so! I don't know how I feel about Q-Core though, as I think it takes attention off of Wayne Enterprises and Lex Corp. But maybe, as you said, there will be a big payoff!
Arnoldoaad - Yes, I picked up a few of those issues. I really didn't like that "mad scientist" version of Lex, and his robot Lois girlfriend was too creepy for me. Lex is cooler than that! I don't know how much of an impact that run had as it's never really discussed and wasn't incorporated into the New 52.
Bromidestain - I see where you might be coming from here, but please note I did NOT say "un-american" but instead "unpatriotic". I don't think it would make any country look good to willingly elect someone like Lex Luthor to lead. I mean, at that time in continuity I believe a number of people were aware of Luthor's shady dealings, to say the least.
Thanks for continuing to watch everyone - and posting comments! I try to stop by regularly both here and on YouTube so we can discuss the episodes!![]()
I loved the Luthor presidency, especially as it coincided with the Bush one in our world. The former proved the viability of the latter. My complaint was the awful, hamfisted conclusion of that plotline in Superman/Batman. Going nuts and shooting up with Krypto-steroids was spectacularly dumb.
Part of the reason Lex Luthor still works in 2012 is that, like Superman and Batman, there is a strong enough core to the character to allow for widely divergent interpretations that suit different tastes. I like corporate raider Luthor, and it was a necessary change after too many years as a neutered villain in purple and green. That said, I've grown bored with Lex smirking behind the tinted glass of a skyscraper in a tailored suit. I didn't care for putting him back in armor and going on quests, but I believe he needs a new groove. Morrison strikes me as a good choice to find it, but I don't think it's whay we've seen in Action Comics so far. Something closer to All-Star Superman, maybe...
I like Morrison's current Luthor and I like his near absence. Need someone else besides Luthor taking on Supes.
