Default A Newly Discovered Brendan McCarthy Comic From 1980

David Hine, author of Bulletproof Coffin with Shaky Kane, has been writing about another hero of British comics,Brendan McCarthy's early work, including Electric Hoaxwith Peter Milligan. But now he has reprintedan early encounter with the creator, by way of a 1980-published comic called Cipher, and a cover strip by Brendan, never reprinted since. A comic created by Chelsea School Of Art's Steve Whitaker and Jake Tilson taking advantage of new, cheaper, publishing technology. But still only two hundred copies printed...

    I love it.

Excellent stuff, although not the only comic to take inspiration from 2-tone...

I want it!! I need it!!!
    Aut Pax. Aut Bellum.

Support the comic book indy scene.

Question about the mainstreamed comic books: why I am still buying the singles when the trades are well inexpensive? Why?
I am doing the DC and Vertigo singles... and the new titles of 2011/12 are already listed on Amazon at real lower prices in trade format!!!
    Am I stupid?

Brendan did more stuff for Cipher magazine. I'm scanning the strip from issue 3 to go up on Waiting For Trade tomorrow morning. After that I'm stumped. I've seen Brendan credited with art for issues 4 and 5 also, but I have never seen copies. Anyone out there got them?

You mean before Spider-Man Fever? About 30 years before! This is very very early work.
