    Default Salt Lake City To Offer Comic Book Degree

    Broadview Entertainment Arts University in Salt Lake City is launching a new course, earning student a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in the field of Comics And Sequential Art.

    Why do I think Scott McCloud will be on the curriculum?

    KSL News reports that the Broadview Dean as saying "This program is built for people who are passionate about telling stories that often begin as paper-napkin doodles, move to freehand sketches and finish with creative products that connect emotionally with audiences".

    The university website describes the course like so;
    This program is designed to prepare students for work as illustrators, comic artists, graphic novelists, cartoonists and storyboard artists.
    • Practice freehand sketches and drawings
    • Develop simple sketches into polished and complete ink drawings
    • Use perspective to draw convincing environments, buildings and machinery
    • Learn figure drawing principles to create human figures, facial expressions and fantasy characters
    • Use standard graphic novel/comic/storyboarding formats to express ideas and story sequences
    You can find our more here.

    ...What? No parallel studies course on how to write comics? God/Yahweh/Roddenberry knows that the Hack Pack could all use a remedial course or 12 in that degree plan.

    And after graduation they will move directly an Occupy protest near you to blame the 1% because they can't find a job.

    Everyone above me is right - school is stupid and the only reason to go to college is to get really rich.

    Feel better now that you've mocked what no one even came close to saying?

    This seems very odd. There is literally no reason that someone should get a degree to go into an already shrinking industry that no one working in it has a degree in. Plus it seems to basically be an art degree, but with panels.

    ...Unless you're a Chemistry major, then the only reason to go to college is to come up with new ways to blow up your lab.

    Because there aren't enough reasons to be unemployed.

    ...Social Insecurity is working fine for me right now. The sad part is that I'm having to turn down some website work because it'll screw up my benefits, and one of these I really would like to take on
