Default Odyssey - A New Graphic Novel From Dave Elliott, Garrie Gastonny... And Jim Steranko

Dave Elliot has often been afacillitator of other people's talents. Whether by working on Warrior Magazine, creating publisher Atomeka and A1 publications, developing comics at Radical and standing behind a new line of comics at Image.

But now the sister is doing it for himself.

Dave Elliott is writing his own graphic novel, Odyssey, drawn by Gary Gastonny, artist on Lady Death and Supergod for Avatar/Boundless and on Citadel and City And Dust for Radical. With Jim Steranko designing the logo and drawing the cover.

    Elliott describes the graphic novel vaguely, saying;
I can tell you this much, the main character has hardly aged in the last 70 years. He is a superhero. Not the strongest but certainly the best.

We cover World War 2, the Iraq occupation and the occupation of Wall Street.

It's Right leaning, Left leaning, Centralist and goes dabble with a little religion (just a little...)

I'm really happy that I get to work directly with Imaginary Friends Studios on one of my projects for a change. Greatest team on the planet!!

Garrie Gastonny who I worked with on both Caliber and The Vault is doing the art. Garrie's wanted to do a superhero book for a while so I hope its everything he's been wanting. Superheroes and villains pulverizing each other... What more could he want?

When's it coming out? "Soon". That'll do...

Good art and an interesting (if not wholly original) idea. I'll keep an eye on this.

Not much to go on but the pedigrees of those involved have me interested. No details of format or schedule?

    Thanks for the interest.

Format and schedule not firm yet. More interested in completing the book first so retailers and fans alike can get a good taste of it before ordering starts.

For those of you who remember the Shark-Man series I did with Steve Pugh, I started it by giving you something you recognized and then turned it on its head. I'm aiming to do the same here.

love the name of the studio!
the art will be great im sure, and Dave will do a fun book. although i am worried that readers will be suffering heroVShero fatigue from AvX.

    Dave:
i wonder if you were living in Northampton, MA at some point? i wonder if we had beers at my place or Hugo's. come by Modern Myths sometime!

I wasn't living in Northampton but was there often as it was the HQ for Tundra Publishing while I was running Tundra UK/Atomeka. Love to come to Modern Myths when the book is out.

Don't be fooled, while there is some hero-vs-hero action, its just a little and sets up relationships for the world to come. My hope is that ODYSSEY becomes a series of graphic novels. I have a very specific beginning and a VERY specific end.

    Cheers,

    - Dave
