Default What Does 75 Tons Of Comics Look Like?

The Times Herald calls it the world's largest online comic book store

Not sure how Mile High Comics would stack up against that, but NewKadia does have a lot of comic books for sale. Nearly a million.

The paper outlines his shift for a small comic collector, to finding that he could make a profit buying and selling on eBay, to setting up his own online business.
?When I first saw the building I wondered if it was strong enough to support 75 tons of comic books,? said owner Jim Drucker. ?But I found out they once made soap here, and that stuff was very heavy when they boxed it up. We had to have a great imagination to see through the condition that it was in to where we are today, but I had this vision that if we did it right it would work very well.?

But it's not just his own comics he sells, and he has a rather unique way of selling on commission. The longer the comics take to sell, the less both he, and the comics' owners, get.
"You send us your comics, they get graded, and when it sells the proceeds get split two ways. Every day the book goes unsold, the price decreases. It?s the customer playing chicken, and that?s why we have such high traffic on our site, because people know the price changes daily."

And as of yet, I don't think anyone has CGC slabbed an iPad.

I've used NewKadia a few times. Some great deals to be had. Good service too. Nice to see them getting a bit of coverage.

It's like the kid down the lane claiming he has the largest comic book collection in the world because he has eight full long-boxes.

What the report failed to mention was that out of those 75 tons 74 are "Youngblood #1".
Eldron and Pulp Nouveau Mike like this.

I've ordered from a few online retailers, but never newkadia. I found the way to search for comics in their database to be a huge pain, and after a few minutes of looking for a few comics, I just give up.

I've never had problems with milehighcomics and use them regularly. I did order from mycomicshop in the past, but after receiving a damaged order and returning it, I was "banned for life" from shopping their again.

I've used NewKadia several times and other than their grading being a little on the high side (same with Mile High), I've never had a bad experience. Watch for their 20-40% off sales and you can get some bargains.

Ah, automatic markdowns like the original original FILINES BASEMENT in Boston!

Thanks for hipping me to a new store where I can buy bunches of old comics on the cheap- I'll have to try it out.
