Default Grace Randolph's Stacktastic! - Animal Man, Batwing, Black Cat, Brubaker & Phillips' Fatale

A very fine welcome to the first of Grace Randolph's Think About The Ink video blogs of 2012. Grace has a new series coming from Boom! this year, entitled Supurbia, but don't expect any blase, world weary attitudes from Grace now that she has her own creator owned comic, she's still just as excited about this week's comics as ever before. Possibly even more!

    Take it away, Grace!

Meh. I don't know if I enjoyed any of Winick's DC output. His Under the Red Hood was rather odd when it first came out following the Hush fiasco and in the middle of the Infinite Crisis mess. Dunno how it reads in trade. Certainly the movie they made of it was better than the actual comics.

Exactly my feelings on "Under the [Red] Hood." HATED the comics, thought it worked great as a standalone movie. Maybe it's just my disdain for having Jason Todd running around the DCU, but in isolation as a one-off movie I thought it was good fun.

i really liked the movie, it worked because it dropped most of the useless sub-plots and stories involving Todd's antics and did away with the whole "SUPERBOY-PRIME PUNCHED A HOLE THROUGH TIME" millarcky and instead of making him insane turned him into more of a tragic villain story, I do wish they could have added the robin vs. robin and the whole reveal was more dramatic.

    Good ol' Bruce Timm

P.S. the irony is Judd wrote the screen play to the movie which was better than the comic, one can only assume this was how he originally wanted it to be without the Infinite Craaa-Crisis...

I think "Under the Red Hood" would have worked much better if Jason Todd would have died again at the end of it. The whole thing ended with Jason about to kill the Joker with a knife and Bruce pointing a gun at both of them. Originally, I think Judd wanted to have Bruce kill Jason in order to save Joker's life (I think I'm remembering this correctly, but let me know if I'm wrong). The issue ended with Batman firing his gun, then it went into some Crisis mumbo jumbo and we never got an answer as to how the whole debacle actually ended. Apparently, Bruce, Jason and Joker all just put their weapons down, shook hands and went home.

Having Jason back for that one storyline was fine and all, but nobody seems to know what to do with him now that the initial story is over. Well, other than his threeway with Roy and Starfire, nobody seems to know what to do with him.

I would like to see reviews for some BPRD/ Hellboy and Conan the Barbarian when it comes out.
