Default Mike Netzer Burns Original Superman Art To Appease Bleeding Cool Message Board Posters

In the last week I've sent not an inconsiderable time with certain comic book professionals calming them down around certain invective expressed towards their upcoming work on both Bleeding Cool message boards and other website message boards.

I tell them that message board commentary is rarely representative of opinion as a whole, it's self selecting, it's only a tiny fraction of total traffic and the silent majority are rarely heard. And few people take what's written that seriously.

I learnt two things. One, we really need to being back Fanboy Rampage. And two, I didn't have this discussion with Mike Netzer. Whose piece, posted on Bleeding Cool got quite extreme reactions.

    And so Mike did this...

    For the forum folks:

I was just thinking to myself that this has probably made that half-burned page more valuable and I was greatly amused to see it is on eBay:

    Brilliant.

He should be able to buy himself a decent lighter now too.
if I went 'round saying I was an Emperor just because some moistened bint had lobbed a scimitar at me, they'd put me away!

What picture was that? And why does he think burning it will appease the Messageboards?

For any creators reading - Rich is right, our talk online isn't always representive of everyone's opinions.

I'm sorry if anything I ever said upset any creator. Seriously, don't take anything anyone on these boards say too seriously! Whatever I might not personally like, 10 other people could have the complete opposite reaction. So don't be so down on you're selves! We only complain because we care about the characters and the great work you do. We just want it to be at it's best - and too often get unbearably grouchy when we're disappointed, over even expecting disappointment. "Fandom" is derived from the word "Fanatic". We also change our minds when; despite expected disappointment, we're blow away when stuff really does turn out to be awesome! So just keep trying to do you're best work!

Again, sorry if I anything I said on these boards discouraged anyone!

Maybe Netzer shouldn't let Billy say the magic word too close to the drawing board...

I went back and read the original thread. It was way nicer than I have seen this board (myself included) be to others. Not worth burning art.

Just to be honest though, I giggled a little when he could not get his lighter to work and had to run in and get something else.

It's his own property so he can do what he pleases. However, it doesn't change the fact that he clearly didn't understand David Goyer's original Superman story.
