Default Amazing Spider-Man 666 Retailer Covers Revealed

Bleeding Cool has already run pieces on the IDW Godzillaand Avatar/Boundless War Goddessmass retailer variant covers, but now Marvel has entered the fray with Amazing Spider-Man #666. If a retailer orders 150% of their usual Amazing Spider-Man numbers, and they can order 500 or more additional covers with their choice of personalised cover. Here are the options...

Have to say, the Godzilla covers seemed to highlight the shop better and the War Goddess covers had completely original individualised pieces of art. but this is Spider-Man. And all rules are out of the window.

I know Orbital Comics in London is signing on. But who else?

"Local comic shop" = "dodgy back-alley porn distributors". Don't they mean Local comic shop?

this is a really bad trend that's beginning. I hope stores do not get suckered by these incentives

I can pretty much guess the big store in my LCS chain will do this. To get that cover. They will mark it so high no one will possibly want it too. A lot of their variants is like that. As one pal joked when the owner showed off a $50 dollar variant , "Is that guy foolish enough to think someone will pay him $50 bucks for that ?"

What, no devil / satan reference on the cover? Or are they saying Comic Book Shops are evil?

I think it means that the final cover will state: Spider-Man saves EYEMELT COMICS. I'm not sure that "Local comic shop" will actually appear on the finished cover.

There's always someone foolish enough to spend that kind of money for a variant. Most of the reason stores order these variants is because they know they've got a customer who's going to buy it.

I'd be surprised if many of the stores taking part in this promotion charge more than cover price for these. I would guess that any store with 250-300 regular customers who'd be willing to buy a copy or two could then sell the rest online. My LCS is gauging interest through their Facebook page, and quite a few of their customers are asking for 2 or 3 copies each.

I think it's a pretty great promotion, as long as it isn't done too often. Maybe once or twice a year from each of the big publishers is sustainable (imho).
