Nintendo Switch's 3.0 Update Gives Way For Homebrewing Hacks

Good news for hackers who are looking to have some fun with their Nintendo Switch, as SwitchBrew has confirmed that there is a way to hack into the system using the current 3.0 update. The finer details can be found at this link, but the layman's shorthand version is that there are specific exploits that people with the right skills can utilize to gain access to the operating system.

Nintendo Switch's 3.0 Update Gives Way For Homebrewing Hacks

In essence, the minute you have access to the OS, you basically have the freedom to rewrite the Switch however you see fit. Why would anyone care to do that? How about to add apps to the service that Nintendo doesn't use. Or add new emulators to play a variety of titles on the handheld system. The exploit is so big, it even got SciresM to comment about it on Twitter.

Word is already out that some people may be making some homebrewed programs to be sent out soon, and that the only way to use them is to keep your Nintendo Switch on the 3.0 update and not use Wi-fi to update it. But, keep in mind that not every homebrew is good for the system, and that the minute you download any software that wasn't meant for the Switch, you're breaking the warranty. So if the console itself dies out because of your choice, you're stuck with a bricked system and will need to buy a new one. Modders beware!
