Gunn, D'Onofrio Conspire Against Feige For Proposed Rocket Raccoon/Kingpin Crossover

As you know from reading Bleeding Cool's exhaustive – and we do mean exhaustive – coverage of the ongoing war between Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige and Bleeding Cool's best friend, Marvel CEO Ike Perlmutter, there can never be any collusion between Marvel's movie and TV departments. As separate arms controlled respectively by bitter enemies Feige and Perlmutter, any interaction at all between them is a thinly veiled attack, such as announcing moving the Inhumans project from a feature film to an ABC show as a way for Feige to hit Perlmutter where it really hurts – right in his favorite intellectual property.

An Inhumans movie would create synergy for both Marvel's Perlmutter-controlled comic books, where the company has been obnoxiously pushing the Inhumans as a replacement for the X-Men, and the ratings-starved television show Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which Ike has been using to shove Inhumans down the throats of an ever-dwindling audience since Season 2. So naturally, Feige has scuttled the film, as he'll never allow his resources to benefit one of Perlmutter's pet projects.

But somehow, the memo hasn't gotten to Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn and Netflix Daredevil star Vincent D'Onofrio, as the two were caught red handed on Twitter plotting a crossover between Gunn's incredibly popular movie series and D'Onofrio's character from Daredevil, The Kingpin.

Switching characters for a Marvel actor isn't unheard of. D'Onofrio transitioned nicely to The Kingpin, a crime boss whose appearance is loosely based on Marvel writer "The Great One" Brian Bendis, from his previous Marvel cinematic role as Thor in Adventures in Babysitting. But crossing the streams between a character from Perlmutter's Netflix shows and one from Feige's films, especially the crown jewel of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the universally beloved Rocket Raccoon?! This would never stand.

As Ike Perlmutter's best friends here at Bleeding Cool, we do hope that Gunn and D'Onofrio succeed in their plot to undermine Feige, but sadly, we doubt it will happen. So chalk this rumored Kingpin vs. Baby Groot film that you didn't know was a thing up to a very unlikely rumor, Little Bleeders.

And remember to stay vigilant! Our best friend Ike Perlmutter has almost no allies left. He didn't even get a Trump cabinet position for his donations like Linda McMahon did! So he's got to rely on us – Bleeding Cool – and our loyal readers to defend his honor.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
