Supergirl, #Sanvers And Why LGBTQ Representation Matters So

CW TV show Supergirl has recently seen the character of Alex Danvers, Supergirl's foster sister, come out as gay and, in recent episodes, establish a relationship with Maggie Sawyer. A situation previously hashtagged as #sanvers, and now established on the show. It has been both welcomed and criticised, as such things always are, but here's an example regarding why this thing does actually matter.

Mary is a comic store clerk working in Fort, Indiana. She describes herself as "super duper gay." Yesterday on Twitter, she wrote about her experiences that day.

Floriana Lima, who plays Maggie Sawyer on the show, replied,

And Chyler Leigh who plays Alex Danvers contacted her, to say
