Tha Annotated Watchmen, Coming In June 2017 From DC Comics In Hardcover

31rxighqr6lYou can find plenty of examples of Annotated Watchmen on-line. Doug Atkinson writes the most widely used one.

People who have spent their time going through the graphic novel with a magnifying glass, drawing out references, hidden secrets, easter eggs and continuity connections.

But if you want to pay for it as well, then DC Comics has yet another version of Watchmen to publish next year (after just putting out Watchman Noir – a black-and-white version).

Welcome to DC's very own Annotated Watchmen, out in June 2017 for $50 in hardcover.

Basically every year DC will find yet another way to publish this thirty-year old comic by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons.

No word if it's Doug Atkinson's document or an originally created one. But we'll keep an eye…

The best-selling graphic novel of all time is back in an annotated hardcover edition! In-depth, informative and entertaining, THE ANNOTATED WATCHMEN is a new and fascinating look at Alan Moore's masterpiece.

It all begins with the paranoid delusions of a half-insane hero called Rorschach. But is Rorschach really insane–or has he in fact uncovered a plot to murder superheroes and, even worse, millions of innocent civilians? On the run from the law, Rorschach reunites with his former teammates in a desperate attempt to save the world and their lives, but what they uncover will shock them to their very core and change the face of the planet!

Now, DC Comics is proud to present this literary classic in an all-new Annotated Edition format. Edited with page-by-page and panel-by-panel notes, THE ANNOTATED WATCHMEN is a  journey through every issue of Alan Moore's classic. Complete with commentary, references and hidden meanings, this new hardcover will deepen and enrich our understanding of the acclaimed series.

If it is Doug's version it will begin with the likes of,

Page 1 Panel 4: Possible symbolism: "Followed in the footsteps" as the sign man tracks the blood on the sidewalk. Rorschach believes his father was a war hero (see issue 6). He sees President Truman as a good man, hard-working and honest; possibly his ordering the nuking of Hiroshima has something to do with this, too.

Also can we note how the cover, by not including the rest of the Smiley Button, means it can be sold in the outside the USA without infringing copyright?
