Dead No More: Wolverine Oversaturation Returns With 10 $1 Reprints In February

wolverineAt the time we're writing this, Wolverine has been dead for over 109 weeks, having been mercifully (for us) killed off in 2014, for which the creative team of Charles Soule and Steve McNiven will forever be remembered as heroes to discerning comic book readers everywhere. Sure, we've since seen X-23 take up the mantle of Wolverine in All-New Wolverine, and we've seen a time-displaced alternate future version of Wolverine return in Old Man Logan. But the actual Wolverine, the one who guest-starred in an average of seventeen comics a month from 1990 to 2014, the one who sanctimoniously lectured Cyclops about endangering children when he literally kills his own children for sport, the undeniable top Mary Sue of the Marvel universe, Poochie with claws, has shockingly remained dead for over two years.

Nobody thought it would last that long. We appreciate it. A lot. But we didn't expect it. However, all good things must come to an end, and with Marvel's upcoming super-mega-crossover event, ErXtile DysfunXion (about Wolverine superfan Jason Aaron's "troubles" since Wolverine was killed), coming in February, and bringing along with it a new Weapon X series whose teaser seems heavily Wolverine oriented, it's looking unfortunately pretty likely that the stabby Cannuck will finally be making his way back into the Marvel Universe. Now, Marvel has announced that it will publish 10 reprints of "some of the most iconic Wolverine and X-23 stories of all time" for just $1 each in order to "get caught up with Laura and Logan," Wolverine's return is pretty much a sure thing.

Well, it was nice while it lasted.

A prophecy once said that in the comic book industry's darkest days, a hero would come to lead the people through a plague of overpriced floppies, incentive variant covers, #1 issue reboots, and super-mega-crossover events. Sadly, that prophecy was wrong. Oh, Jude Terror was right. For ten years. About everything. But nobody listened. And so, Jude Terror has moved on to a more important mission: turning Bleeding Cool into a pro wrestling dirt sheet!
