Sony Hire Game Of Thrones Director For Their Own Live-Action Mulan

It looks like we have a rivalry on our hands.

Deadline brings word that Sony have a live action Mulan in the works. This comes hot on the heels of Disney, who recently announced thier own live-action version of the story will release November 2018.

Sony seem to have a leg up too, as they already have someone in the chair for the film. It's been announced that Alex Graves, who has directed episodes of The West Wing and Game of Thrones, will be helming the project. It is set to be a Chinese co-production with international audiences in mind.

You have to imagine that both films won't be released too far apart from one another, so this should be interesting to see play out. I'd guess both will have quite different tones, with the Disney version probably having songs and a lot of colour like their animation did, while Sony's (I'm speculating) could be a more 'literal' interpretation of the Hua Mulan legend.

I'm more than happy to see both films justify their existence here before making any judgements here.
