Is The New Director Of SHIELD Actually Jeffrey Mace?

patriot-patriotThere is a new video clip from tonight's Marvel's Agents of SHIELD that gives us our first look at the new director (Jason O'Mara) and we find out his name is 'Jeffrey'. That's all we know so far other than he's a character that goes back to the 1940s… so time to dig out the Marvel Encyclopedias.

Wild guess here… Jeffrey Mace. Mace was the costumed adventurer Patriot and even took on the mantle of Captain America for a while. His first appearance was in The Human Torch #4 in 1941. This could be a long shot, but it's the type of Easter Egg Marvel likes to put in their shows / movies.

And O'Mara looks like he could've been Captain America once.

Marvel's Agents of SHIELD airs tonight at 10 PM on ABC.
