Blizzard's New App Makes World Of Warcraft: Legion More Manageable

Blizzard introduced something new… well, many new things, but one thing in particular during their last expansion World of Warcraft: Warlords of Draenor. This was Garrisons. It was an area that you had as your home base, you could upgrade it, skill up your professions, etc. It also included followers… these were NPCs that you could send out on missions and if successful, they would bring you back a variety of rewards.

With World of Warcraft: Legion, we've moved on from Garrisons into Class Order Halls. Gone are the profession related buildings and player specific location. Now you share a place with others of your class… Warlocks hanging out at the Dreadscar Rift, Paladins chilling up in Eastern Plaguelands… it's like the lunch room at a high school. But there are still followers, now called Champions, that you can send out on missions.

The problem with the old followers was you had to log into the game to check your missions, collect your rewards and launch new missions. If you didn't have access to your computer, you could be wasting (arguably) valuable time with follower twiddling their thumbs. Blizzard has an app for that now. The World of Warcraft Legion Companion has launched for mobile devices and allows players (who are NOT signed into the game), to access all of the characters and lets them collect rewards, launch new missions and even order new generic class recruits. It also lets you look into the order hall research and to check out the map and see the current world quests so you can plan out your day. All from your phone.

I've been using the app for the last two days and it's pretty seamless so far. I only have two characters at the point of having missions, but I can see as I start leveling up my other classes, this will become an invaluable tool.

Check out the video below for more details. To find the app, at least on iPhone, I had to look for Wow Legion and not World of Warcraft spelled out.
