Ben Templesmith Brings Back Wormwood As He Runs To Be The First Dead President

unnamed (12)

Ben Templesmith is bringing his undead star, Mr Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse back to comics with a new three issue series, Mr Wormwood Goes To Washington. Or maybe four, he's not sure yet.

But he is going to do it on Patreon.

as a way to structure me to get it done, as a way to help…you know…not become homeless, and as a way to give the true fans a creator's eye view of how it gets made. So you can read it here first, before anyone else, as I go. $6 a month gets you all the process and behind the scenes. And maybe a few other sneaky things if I can work them in.

As he says

The way the economics work is this: I do the book for nothing. I get the book done. Then it goes to IDW, and slotted into their publishing schedule for whenever that will be.Then it's another 2 months for preorders. Then, approximately 3 months later, once sales have been tabulated and what not, I might see a royalty on a portion of those sales. So it's a long, long journey to get any sort of income on these projects. Sadly the landlord and grocery stores don't work to this model.  This didn't really used to be an issue mind you, since I used to be able to budget and had a buffer for the timescales involved, but having about 2 years worth of income vanish into a company and a kickstarter kind of set me back a fair way and made my regular model of doing creator owned work far, far harder. At least for the time being.

And it starts next week…
