They didn't need Facebook.

Somehow, one night in 1954, the word got out. And hundreds of Glasweigan children aged from 4 to 14, inspired by the stories they'd read in comics, armed themselves with whatever they could find and took to the streets to hunt for the fictional Gorbals Vampire. A man with iron teeth who had, it was rumoured, abducted and eaten two local young boys. Well, they weren't going to stand for that.

And they gathered in Glasgow in the night, to track him down and kill him. It. Whatever…

Frank Quitely has created an original piece of art to publicise a new play inspired by the events of that night.

Gorbals Vampire by Johnny McKnight will be performed by a cast of 50 community actors at Glasgow's Citizens Theatre on 28 & 29 October.
