Flash: Earth One Isn't The DC Comics Project JMS Is Finishing

Last week, Bleeding Cool reported on news from San Diego Comic-Con that J Michael Straczynski reported he was quitting comics, in preference for novels and plays. And that he just had a couple of possible projects to finish, one from Graphic India and one from DC Comics.

Dream Police, his series from Image Comics with Sid Kotian sees its final issues at the end of August and September respectively.

The Graphic India project is probably related to Titans, the film/graphic novel project JMS was attached to with Peter Chernin.

When ships from an unknown world crash-land around the world, the Titans on board — massive entities with no memory of where they came from or where they were going — bond telepathically with the ordinary humans who encounter them.  The story covers a ten-year span, following these Titans and their humans as the world tries to use them for their own purposes.  Some want military superiority, others peace; some want to build cities, others to destroy them.  It is a story of terrible wars and great hope, but more than anything else, it is a story about us, the choices we make, and how we use, abuse, or fail to realize our own potential, our own dreams.

Titans is a story about forces so powerful as to be almost beyond human comprehension. But it's also about us, about the choices we make for good and for ill, and how those individual choices may mean the salvation, or the destruction, of our world.

But the DC Comics project is unknown. Could it be the Flash: Earth One graphic novel to accompany his Superman: Earth One series of books? It appears not, as it never seemed to go beyond the 2015 announcement.

If there is such a pause, it may also have affected the planned Aquaman: Earth One graphic novel from Francis Manapul. Titans: Earth One Vol 2 is scheduled for the next couple of weeks, but there appear to be no other new Earth One titles on the slate.
