Tracking Down The Groupon Half Million

c700x420

Yesterday we reported on how one Groupon had sold over half a million Marvel and DC Comics for a buck to eighty cents a piece.

But where did they all come from?

Well, Dennis Barger of Quickstop and WonderWorld comics told us that he sold a quarter of a million mostly Marvel/DC titles to  Midtown Comics back in 2014 – and one of the Groupon customers found one of Barger's tags on one of the bagged comic books, and this is the only such sale that Barger believes could have seen his comics end up there.

However Gahl Buslov at Midtown tells us they're not behind it and haven't had any bulk sales of such large quantities to another seller.

They have run large public warehouse sales – three of them this year – including selling some comics by the longbox to customers, but nothing like the large quantities needed for such an operation.

Could someone have bought from Midtown – and many other stores? Groupon has not responded to requests about the identity of the seller.
