Speculator's Corner: Joyride #1

s-l1600 (1)Two weeks ago, Boom! Studios announced one of their latest original series, Joyride, was being promoted from a 4 issue limited series to an ongoing series. A month ago, we speculated that retailers would bet on the series. Yesterday, we tipped you off that the first issue was going to a 2nd printing. All of this points towards Joyride heating up.
A look at eBay reinforces that trend. The first printing has been selling for $11, $10, and $9. Even more noteworthy is the more rare, old school ashcan, which was given away at ComicsPRO and WonderCon that recently sold as high as $29.
The series, which I described as "pretty much Runaways in space", is about a group of kids that steal a spaceship to escape a fascist Earth and go on a joyride to explore the universe. Written by Collin Kelly and Jackson Lanzing (Batman & Robin Eternal) with art by Marcus To (New Avengers), Joyride is one to watch.
