The Ads For Suicide Squad In Suicide Squad #1 FCBD

IMG_0045On Free Comic Book Day, Saturday May 7th, one of the two comics DC Comics are offering that day is Suicide Squad #1. The first issue of the New 52 Suicide Squad comic from 2011.. By Adam Glass, Federico Dallocchio, Ransom Getty and Scott Hannah, it's a gross comic of torture porn, a bit of Batman, a lot of close cut grunting and kink, and our first thin Amanda Waller. What it lacks is what would be brought to the title, is humour. This is as grimdark as it comes.

But as well as the comic are ads for DC Universe Online, Comic Con HQ, Scooby Apocalypse, Future Quest, Harley Quinn statues, the Batman/Superman soundtrack and the Warner Archive. Oh ads for Suicide Squad movie. One for the movie alone. Two for the graphic novels that might be sold to people who like Suicide Squad. And one for someone who wants the toys. 20 pages of comics. 15 pages of ads, mostly in-house… this is a Suicide Squad movie marketing machine.

But hey, it's free.

Suicide Squad #1 FCBD from DC Comics is published on Free Comic Book Day,Saturday, May 7th.
