Today brings the release of the sixth issue of Clean Room, written by Gail Simone, with art by Jon Davis-Hunt. This issue also wraps up the first story ARC of the incredibly terrifying series. We've finally arrived at the truth, well, at least part of it as Chloe gets a look inside what happened to her fiancé. Because we've been emotionally invested with Chloe's character since the beginning, it was easy to feel connected as the past is replayed in her mind. I was thankful for the break in tension from the facial expression on the cats face sitting next to him…

If you thought Clean Room was a disturbing read before, think again…a visit from a new character called the Surgeon takes things to an entirely new level. The intensity that's felt when reading the comic continues to grow with each issue. Just when I think things might slow down, something horrid happens.

We get to see a bit of a softer side to Astrid in issue #6 as she comes to Chloe's aid. Over the last six issues there hasn't been too much character development with the two female leads. We've uncovered bits of their past, and what makes them tick, but I still want more. Even though Chloe takes a big step at the end of the issue, I'd like to get even more background information on her life and the things she's personally been through. Now that we get a bit of closure with what happened to her fiance, there might just be room for that in future issues. Regarding Astrid, well, she's one of the best characters I've read in a long time. The consistency of her stoic nature will continue to impress me I'm sure.

Overall, I felt satisfied with how things wrapped up at the end of the issue. It was one of those endings that leaves you wanting more, but doesn't drive you crazy. I look forward to reading future issues of Clean Room, and hope that you'll join in on the madness too.

Here's what writer Gail Simone had to say…

Also, take note cosplayers!
