Exclusive Walking Dead Strip Tells The Origins Of Negan In Image Comics' New Monthly Solicits Magazine Image +

105399-18428-108080-1-image-plusMany years ago, Marvel Comics left Diamond Previews for their own mini-Previews catalogue, distributed alongside the main monthly catalogue.

In June, Bleeding Cool has reported that DC Comics will take a month's break for their own mini-Previews for the launch of DC Comics Rebirth.

And in May… Image Comics will still be in Previews – but will also have a bonus 64 page mini-Previews, called Image+, named after the promotional magazine they used to publish themselves back in the nineties (pictured right).

Image Comics describes it as "an all-new monthly magazine which will feature Image's upcoming releases, as well as bonus creator-owned comics content."

And to encourage people to pick it up, each magazine for the first year will feature a four page Walking Dead strip by Robert Kirkrman and Charlie Adlard about the origin of hit character Negan.

Previews is hundred of pages long. While Image Comics has been at the front, alongside DC, Dark Horse and IDW, there is still the fear that it's easy to get lost in there.

Image+ will feature interviews, features, new preview pages, editorials and "in-depth, insightful and provocative comics coverage" curated by David Brothers, Branding Manager at Image Comics. He is quoted as saying,

"Comics are exciting, and it does them and their creators a disservice to give them rote, by-the-numbers coverage. I cut my teeth on video game magazines before writing about comics professionally, and I'm excited to push that experience in a new direction alongside our Sasha Head, our Sales & Marketing Production Designer. From my perspective, comics have always been cool, and this is a chance to show everyone exactly why I feel that way."

So… I'm not expecting to be asked to contribute.

Image+ will be free for those who already buy Previews, or $1.99 separately.
