Things To Do In Cheltenham This Weekend If You Love Comics
This weekend comic book fans can rejoice as the True Believers Comic Festival returns for a triumphant third year, with its mix of comic book creators, cosplay and comic related memorabilia. This, and a healthy schedule of panels across the day too, with yours truly on hand to moderate one of the many panels, Comics As Education, along with fellow panelists, John-Paul Bove (Transformers), Kate Brown (Young Avengers), Paul Duffield (Freakangels) and Tim Quinn (Marvel). The one I am most looking forward to is the Dr Who panel kicking off at 1.45pm featuring Paul Cornell (Wolverine), Rachel Smith (The Rabbit), Emma Vieceli (Vampire Academy) and Mike Collins (Dr Who). For a full list of panels and timings, click here.
Along for the ride in addition to these panels/guests will be the talents of Dylan Teague (2000AD), Lee Townsend (Marvel), Sonia Leong (Manga Shakespeare) as well as independent creators and publishers such as Rees Finlay and his High Priestess comic, Mike Garley and his Kill Screen series as well as a who hall of comic related goodies. Again, for the full line up of exhibitors click here.
A lovely con, in a lovely part of the country, situated as it is at the world-famous Cheltenham Racecourse, plus free parking (well, it was last year). Big enough too, that I will fail to say hello to the growing amount of friendly and familiar faces I am meeting across the Midlands. So, if I do, grab me and say 'Hi.' Especially if you've got a new comic to promote.
