Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 1st February 2016 – Old Man Logan Keeps On Ticking

oldmanlogan-001-01This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

Has Old Man Logan actually realised that Wolverine is dead? No wonder he's hanging around with Jean Grey so much. Anyway, he tops this weeks list and is very prominent in Extraordinary X-Men which comes second, both just beating out a new Saga. And might the beancounters consider the cancellation of Star Wars Kanan with these figures? And for DC, Justice League Of America continues to be a big hit as Bryan Hitch returns to the title.

  • 1. Old Man Logan #1
  • 2. Extraordinary X-Men #6
  • 3. Saga #33
  • 4. Star Wars: Kanan #10
  • 5. Justice League of America #7
  • 6. Daredevil #3
  • 7. All New All Different Avengers #4
  • 8. Batman & Robin Eternal #17
  • 9. East Of West #24
  • 10. Superman #48

Who had this to say,

It was a pretty weird week.  Most of our top selling books this week were reprints or back issues.  It looks like Movie Books or Tv shows are showing a huge rise in viewership in comic book sales.

Deadpool stock is at a huge high right now.

Old Man Logan was a runaway #1 for us this week, selling almost twice as many copies as the second-best-selling title. Image and DC each had two titles on the top ten in our store–the rest was Marvel, although with lighter quantities than the rankings might lead one to expect.

Strong interest in Silver Age DC among the veteran collectors; continued interest in Dark Horse Star Wars, both in single issues and collected editions.

Judging by our top ten, I'm not surprised at all about the news of DC's "Rebirth". They are doing pitifully across the board on everything that isn't called Batman. Carnage is starting to move up from a sleeper hit to a genuine hit for us, sneaking into the Top Ten at #7. And once again, for all those complaining about Marvel bringing back characters, Old Man Logan came in on top for us.
More Deadpoo trailers means that back issues sales continue to soar. The Merc With A Mouth equals more money than ever!

Gratifying to see a nice mix this week. I.e. not dominated by Marvel only. Or DC. Got some Image and some Dark Horse representing. This reflects a healthy diversity in customer interests!

One of the most craziest weeks we have ever had. Our missing order of Batman Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 arrived and even though it was released two weeks and the other stores received it we sold out Wednesday. Daredevil 3 sold out even though Daredevil 2 is still available. Quick sell outs also included Batman and Robin Eternal, Cyborg, JLA, and Extraordinary X Men even though we ordered the same amount as their previous issue and in some cases more due to the color book variant for some of them. We have regular walk in customers that didn't get here in time and thankfully some sold out issues were available for reorder. Great to sell out of course just no idea where the extra demand came from. Baffles me but it's a good issue to have.

Fabulous week for comics.Invoice not too big and yet not too small either.Right mixture of titles coming out from everyone. Old Man Logan however was the clear winner selling more than double the second best selling book this week. Few new comers out this week, but people stuck with the main stays from Marvel and DC.

The obvious back-issue winner was Deadpool.Nothing else really moved since people are aware that if they want books they had better get them before the movie comes out.
