The Obi-Wan Kenobi Spin-off Movie Rumor Lives Again … As A Trilogy

ObiwankenobiEven before Lucasfilm was sold to Disney, word of spin-offs started to come from sources close to the situation. At one time, a film anchored by Jedi Master Yoda seemed to be in the works.

Then Disney bought the company, quickly moved to announce Episode VII and in the same breath announced spin-off films centered on Han Solo and Boba Fett. The notion of a Star Wars feature film spin-off became real when Rogue One: A Star Wars Story went into production. But in the gulf between announcements and production, rumors spread of a film centered on the life of Obi-Wan Kenobi as played by Ewan McGregor.

And now the Obi-Wan rumor has returned. Schmoes Know reports the actor is in negotiations for an unknown project at Disney. Their sources suggest it could be a trilogy of Obi-Wan films set in the years between Revenge of the Sith and the original Star Wars. The site warns this could be a lot of wishful thinking — people tend to have good will for McGregor as the least truthful of Jedis — but they believe there are enough rumblings to suggest it could be happening.

Either way, it is interesting to think about McGregor getting another go at the character.
