A Comic Show – All Next Week's Marvels Now!

Aaron Haaland writes,

Hey Fandom! Hope you had and great Christmas and have some nerdy new year plans. This week is a little weird because Diamond Comics shipped some of next week's Marvel books now, so I can talk about them! Mileage may vary, but your local comic shop may very well be selling Obi-Wan & Anakin, Amazing Spider-Man #5, Howard The Duck #3, Nova #3, Rocket Raccoon and Groot #1, Spider-man 2099 #5, and Spidey #2 this week. I mean they were invoiced like any books this week, but Diamond sent an email yesterday blaming the printer and asking us not to sell them until next week.

Obi-Wan & Anakin #1 by Charles Soule is the perfect post whiny Jake Llyod, pre-angsty Hayden Christensen Anakin. So kinda 50% whiny, 50% angsty. Chewbacca #5 has TWO awesome long time pay off moments. Deadpool & Cable is a return to the Nicieza era humor, this time with Deadpool on top. And Drax #2 was more enjoyable than #1.

Justice League #47 is part 7 of Darkseid War, and the cover doesn't lie. It really can't get more epic than this. And the Black Bag variants this week were Jim Lee on Justice League and Amanda Conner on Wonder Woman.

Aftershock and Garth Ennis' Dreaming Eagles was a master class comic. The pitch and execution were just perfect. A father who was a Tuskegee Airman in WWII tries to get his son not to stick his neck out during the Civil Right's movement. Ennis' Code Pru is classic Avatar tentacle magic. Jughead, Rat Queens, and Ringside filled out a darn good week of releases.

I hope you find the Star Wars book you're looking for this week!
