The San Diego Comic Art Gallery attached to comic book publisher IDW is launching their  Comic Book Art of Star Wars exhibition tomorrow, running until the end of January.

The exhibit will feature 30 pieces of rare Star Wars original art from the very first comic book series released by Marvel Comics in 1977, mostly from the first six issues that adapted the first film.

Howard Chaykin was the artist of most of the pieces on display, and he will be at the show as well from 5pm to 8pm signing the 12″ x 17" Star Wars Artifact Edition, which reprints original artwork from the book as close to the original artwork boards as possible, including many pieces not on display at the show.

This marks the debut of the volume, which will only be in stores from 9th December….
