More Women Than Men Own Games Consoles In the US According To Report

Gaming has always been seen as a young male past time, but most of the reports that are being done by research groups find that the picture is actually much more complicated.

That certainly is the case in the new report by Technology Device Ownership 2015 (via MCV). The findings found that more more woman in the US said they own a console than men. 43% of women said they own one compared to 37% of men. It also found Hispanic (45%) and Black (43%) ethnicity own more consoles than White (39%) people.

Here is the breakdown:

Now, there is some missing information here, like what actually counts as a console. Does mobile count as a console? How far back in the generations do qualifying consoles go? Does a console bought for a child count? Regardless, these are interesting readings for sure. They diversity of people gaming is only growing, and I have to say, I'm very excited about that.
