Back To The Future 30th Anniversary Tribute Hits Close To Home

When I was around thirteen or fourteen… yes a very long time ago… I remember driving with my father and looking over at our local mall and seeing an odd sign at one of the entrances. It was called the Puente Hills Mall but there was this sign that said "Twin Pines Mall". I was a bit confused and my dad had not heard anything about the mall getting a name change.

A night or two later a friend of mine took me up to that same mall and we watched the filming of a movie. There was the old white delivery van and a silver sports car with doors that opened up like bird wings. Yes, young teen aged me watched the filming of the famous DeLorean scene from Back to the Future. I grew up just miles away from the mall and a year or so later when I got to see the film, I would smile looking at the Robinson's that I had shopped at before.

We are now 30 years from the movies release and little tributes are popping up here and there… and to my surprise as I was driving by the Puente Hills Mall yesterday, that same entrance was blocked off by yellow tape and a quick glance I noticed the "Twin Pines Mall" sign was once again up. A swing into the next entrance and my girlfriend and I discovered not only had the sign returned, but that silver sports car and the white delivery van were there as well. We grabbed a few photos to share.
