Jesse L. Martin Talks About That Moment In The Season One Finale

When of the unique things about the first season of The Flash was the father-son relationships that existed as metaphorically Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) had three fathers. His relationship with his real father Henry Allen (John Wesley Shipp) had some great scenes as did the mentor/father relationship with Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanagh) until he turned out to be evil. But the relationship between Barry and Joe West (Jesse L. Martin) was one of the show's real strength which made the scene in the season finale so much more heart-wrenching when Joe has to let Barry go try to save his mom even if it meant wiping out their relationship for all time.

In the video below, Martin talks about the scene and why he couldn't stand in the way of Barry going back in time.

The Flash returns October 6th to the CW.
