Scott Snyder Makes The Case Against Bruce Wayne, Philanthropist, In Batman #44
It would not be the first time that it has been pointed out that, with all his billions, if he really wanted t make a difference on the streets of Gotham, Bruce Wayne would pack in all the Batman lark, invest in the city, its social services, its infrastructure and rid Gotham of its systemic issues.
In today's Batman #44, Scott Snyder and Jock paint a different picture. We begin with a dead teenager. But how did he get there? And I don't just mean in the middle of an empty field outside Gotham…
First, there is the corruption.
And the interest of criminals.
But why all he fuss in the first place? Why was the nak wanting to invest?
Bruce Wayne's attempt to make things better. To get involved. To use money as a band-aid. But having far more serious consequences.
The answer is not to do nothing, but to understand, to get involved, to stay committed and involved rather than flying in and flying out, as it were.
And failing then, to dress up as a bat and hit people…
I think a lot of people will be talking about Batman #44. Go pick up your copy…
