From Noam Chomsky To Sliding Worlds

photo-original

Lisa Purr, Chicken Angel Studios, Publishing date: March 2016. Explore parallel worlds with a genetically engineered cat & owner, Lucy, against a ruling elite in a dystopian society.

Lisa Purr writes,

I am writing a graphic novel. I've been inspired by The Confession of An Economic Hitman by John Perkins, Noam Chomsky's works, current affairs and the advancements of science and technology.

A fraternal society rules the world, carrying out genetic and military experiments unknown to the civilian population. Resources are running out, poverty and corruption is becoming more extreme, and the elite are looking to conquer the mysteries of time and space.

Why I think the project is great!

Because this is based on many real life events and the flaws of human nature. Life can be a bitch! Many people are power hungry. Empires existed because people wanted to kill, conquer and grab the resources of other countries. Elite groups do exist to maintain their power and social hierarchy. Discrimination exists as people want to feel superior than the other person or have ingrained biases. Most of us are judgemental, whether we want to admit it or not. History is often not taught and ignored as if we knew the real facts, it would expose the bloodshed and immoral practices that took place. Many of us are feeling poorer: there are supranational states which are making us financially pay for their bad mistakes and governance.

What it has been like working on this project

I've been burning out the lightbulbs working on this project, but at least to me it has meaning rather than just some corporate job where I'm doing it for the money. I'm lucky to be working with great illustrators, however, illustrators aren't mind-readers and it takes time to convey exactly what you mean and how you want the scenes to appear, and there is constant editing. Getting it exactly how I want it takes time – to the point where it's overtaking my life.

I also want to keep it fun for readers and myself so I like to inject some humour and irony into it.

I'm allocating a number of early bird discounts on Kickstarter . Digital copies will only cost £5 instead of £7. The physical and digital copies together will only cost £12 instead of £14 including 4 glossy stickers!!! There will only be 150 early bird specials at these two levels. Tweet and follow me so I can tweet to you when the project comes up. I will notify you via the social network channels when the project is ready. The early bird catches the worm.

But this is only if I reach the minimum of £19k required in Kickstarter so please spread the word. To do great work, comes great responsibility.

Sliding Worlds project

Think along the lines of 'The Men who Stare at Goats', 'X-men, and 'Divergent'. But with the addition of a furry cat, a bit of tongue in cheek + more!

This is set in the near future in 2050, where genetic engineering and covert military experiments take place. Who says it doesn't take place now in some top security place?

Cats share 90% DNA with humans, making them suitable furry friends.

This is a man's world, and a fraternal society governs the world. They always have done, and the scenes will take you from ancient Egypt to the Roman empire, Knights Templar, European empires and now. They invaded and murdered the natives, and set up colonies in North America, Asia and Africa. They carved up the world between them and no one was able to stop them. Now inhabitable space, water supplies and food are running out in the world with global warming and countries impose unpopular population control policies.

The dark forces of human nature are driven by greed, power and military force.

The plot touches on a mixture of real life events and fiction: attempts to tap into natural powers, scientific and psychological experiments and political conspiracies. Jack, the cat, was orphaned at a young age. He had been subjected to genetic engineering and mind experiments by humans.

Jack escaped and found a nice owner, Lucy, to share his powers of sense, hearing and speed. A cat can become a girl's best friend. Lucy just doesn't fit in with her peers and her parents' ideals of seeking a stable, safe and secure career. Growing up, she is guided and comforted by her god-mother, a nearby neighbour who never married but who accepted her and looked after her.

She struggles with finding her own identity, self-worth and place in the world. She leaves home and faces the harsh realities of the world, stumbling upon the political conspiracies by the ruling elite of Haven city.

Selected scenes follow:

The elite are always looking to manipulate major world events, and now time and space too. Join Lucy and her cat who meet an underground resistance. Can they stop the world order which has control of arms, robots and advanced warfare?

Meet the underground resistance that Lucy joins in a battle of good versus evil against the fraternal societies that want to maintain world order and domination.

Slip into parallel worlds across time zones with the attempts to change the outcome of major world events. Travel with us as we visit the potential future of genetic warfare and also past biological warfare with smallpox used against the Native American Indians (blankets given under the guise of a friendly gesture but which had been intentionally contaminated) by the British and anthrax used by the Japanese and the Soviet Union.

What would the world be like if Kennedy hadn't been assassinated – would the Americans still have continued with the Vietnam war? What if Hitler had won WWII? Go back and forwards in time and see much more!Meet the futuristic military drones patrolling around and the small, friendly drones that already exist which fly in to do our tasks.

History is a dark and murky subject, but so is the status quo and the future too. Please note – not all of these events will be covered in the first part but you can enjoy lots of subject matter!
