Super Mario: Spikers Is A Neat Cancelled Project That Mixed Volleyball And Wrestling
I love getting a peak at interesting canceled game projects and wondering what could have been.
That is why I love checking into Unseen64 Tamaki from time to time. They produce content surrounding games that have since died and this one is particularly interesting. Next Level Games created the very decent Super Mario: Strikers brand and were charged with making another game that was a spin off of that series.
What they came up with was a Volleyball x Wrestling game of all things called Super Mario: Spikers. It was pitched with several assets, but Nintendo decided against it due to the violence. Still, the footage has surfaced and I think it looks pretty cool. I'd have played this no doubt.
