Almost Half Of All Americans Play Video Games Regularily

It isn't an outlandish thing to say that video games are one of the most accepted and popular forms of entertainment in the world. When you consider that we were only on Pong around 40 years ago, that is kind of mind boggling.

To illustrate the growth of the medium, the Electronic Software Association did a test concerning all of gaing. Via their survey, here are some of the most interesting facts.

– 42% of Americans play more than 3 hours of video games a week.

– 51% of houses have a dedicated video game console

– The average age of players is 35.

– 44% of gamers are women.

– Women age 18 or older represent a signi! cantly greater portion of the game-playing population (33%) than boys under the age of 18 (15%)

– The most frequent female player is on average 43 years old

– Social games (31%), Action (30%) and Puzzle/Board Games (30%) are the most popular

– PC (61%) makes the device most frequent used.

There is a ton of other interesting findings in the report. I encourage you to go look yourself. Obviously the mobile market is a huge trend here, but seeing the PC at over 60% usage is interesting. The growth of the platform is great for the industry. I hope it gets even better support going forward.
