Those WoW Tokens Have Already Lost Nearly A Third Of Their Value

wow gold

As reported, WoW Tokens launched yesterday. They allow players to buy the currency with real world money and then sell them on in the in-game auction house for gold. These tokens can then be redeemed by those who bought them for subscription time.

The amount the tokens go for is set by the region you are playing in, based on supply and demand. The Tokens started with a worth of 30,000g, but as pointed out by PC Gamer, that has now slumped to just 22,279g.

It's worth noting, this was bound to happen. As soon as the tokens went live, I'm sure an influx of people ran in and bought them up. This will have devalued currency significantly. The real interesting part will be checking out the value of these things in a few weeks once everything stabilizes.

So, if you were going to go in and cash in your tokens now, it may be best to wait a few days while the 'economy' recovers. If you wanted to go buy game time when it is cheapest, it's probably well worth getting in now, mind.

On next weeks episode of video game economics…
