Dark Horse Is Bringing Swedish Horror-Romance Love Hurts To The U.S. This Fall

Tennyson wrote, "'Tis better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all." Well, Tennyson never met these lovers… Dark Horse Comics is bringing a Swedish horror-romance comic to the U.S. this fall entitled, Love Hurts. Written and illustrated by, Kim W. Andersson, Love Hurts will be his U.S. graphic novel debut. It will collect the complete series. His graphic novel Alena is currently being adapted into a movie. Love Hurts will contain a foreword by Peter Snejbjerg (B.P.R.D., Starman, Preacher), and will collect over 200 pages of Anersson's horror-romance comics with material from Dark Horse Presents, Swedish alternative comics anthology From the Shadow of the Northern Lights, and many more.

Love Hurts will feature lovelorn super villains, psychopathic online daters, murderous reality TV show stars, and heartbroken cowboys, samurais, and astronauts. The compilation shows that no matter who you are or what you do, love can be a deadly thing. To me, this is a refreshing concept that we don't encounter quite often. Most of the time love is portrayed in tragic ways, but it's never focused on as a painful thing. Andersson's take is clever, and looks like it will be quite gripping. I keep coming across announcements of certain comics being grabbed from all over the world, and all of them seem to encompass refreshing ideas. I assume this will attract more people to certain publishers. It definitely catches my attention. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of Love Hurts. It's set to release on October 28th.
