Nintendo CEO Says Zelda Netflix Show 'Is Not Based On Correct Information'
There was a lot of excitement a month or two ago due to a report about a proposed Zelda Netflix show. Everyone was talking about it and there was no firm denial from Nintendo or Netflix, so general consensus was that it was at least partially true.
It might be time to temper those expectations though. Speaking to Time, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata has tempered the talk. When quizzed on the show, he said:
As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information.
This could just be Iwata being coy, mind. The report could be based on 'some' information. Or, the whole thing could turn out to have been false.
I suppose time will tell on this one. If we go a year or so without hearing anything, especially around the release of the Wii U game, I'm calling time of death on this one.
