Japan Weekend In Madrid's Valentine's Celebration – Plus Photogallery

japan15chibiHey buddies! Again, I would like to show you how Spain is getting mad about manga, anime and cosplay. When everyone is celebrating Valentine's Day, the Spanish fans wear their best costumes and go to Japan Weekend that can be considered a celebration for lovers of Japanese style.

The Japan Weekend is an event dedicated to the world of Japanese culture and all aspects surrounding it. This translates into a lot of manga and anime, video games, Asian tradition and culture, superheroes, technology and cinema but especially many activities, contests, games, courses, workshops, exhibitions and concerts.

Although it is called Japan Weekend, it focuses not only on Japan, but you can also see many things about Asia in general.

Japan Weekend was distributed on two floors. On the ground floor is where the action was and also there were many trade stands. Otakus could buy some bargains and new titles at the many booths, also if you wanted to buy merchandise of your favorite series, there were many possibilities… from Pokemon to Attack on Titan If you like more action, there were two scenarios available: to sing or dance. Also, If you wanted to just watch, you had presentations, exhibitions and famous cosplay contests. Also you could get autographs. This edition hosted the Ikkitousen´s author, Yuji Shiozaki, Xian Nu and the authors of Bookuman, and also you could watch the 3D movie Saint Seiya.

If you were hungry you could eat all kinds of Japanese food. If you wanted to relax you could test the new Nintendo 3DS or play the latest titles for Playstation 4 or Xbox One. There were many options.

The first floor was dedicated to the alternative scene. There were many fan booths where you could buy fan made stuff or enjoy the steam punk scene. Also you could enjoy playing with retro computers like Amiga or MSX.

There were many contests like the Asian Cover Dance Festival, thought out for fans of the pop movement across East Asia. It was an opportunity for all fans of these genres to showcase their talent interpreting choreography that's all the rage in Asia, not only the most popular but also the most spectacular and the most shocking. Also Japan Weekend offered for fans to sing Asian hit songs at the Karaoke contest. There were also Cosplay contests for children and young adults.

Japan Weekend is another reason to visit Spain. Don´t forget your cosplay!!
