Rumour: Loads Of Star Wars Battlefront Leaks Pertaining To The Force Awakens, The Prequels, Release Date And Gameplay Outlined

Alright, I'm throwing up a rumour warning here, but my gut tells me that these are probably based in reality.

MakingStarWars, who have a pretty good track record with movie leaks, have posted up a long list of potential reveals surrounding DICE's new Star Wars: Battlefront. There is all kinds of stuff in here, down to gameplay, saga focus, release dates and of course, The Force Awakens.

First off, the game will span pretty much the entire Star Wars saga, but will have a reduced prequel presence. That presences is said to at least include "a couple of battles from the Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and the space battle above Corsucant from the beginning of Revenge of the Sith." This means that most of the campaign will be focused on the original trilogy. It was also noted that a playthrough of the campaign is actually pretty long.

There will be a little content set in between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, but not too much as Lucasfilm has plans for that period.

The ending of the game will cover the beginning of The Force Awakens, but since the game is expected to launch before the movie, it won't go in too far. This means that you can play as characters from the new movie at launch though, specifically the ones in the trailers.

The title will have something resembling the traditional hero system from the old games, meaning that at least once a match, a player will be able to take control as a special unit, likely a known character from the universe. This will all take place in huge 64 player matches. The game will also "absolutely" have space to land fights in certain modes. I want all of that stuff I just typed.

The game is also said to have an "extremely aggressive" DLC plan, with at least five DLC packs already planned, the first to launch by the end of 2015. I'd personally wager that these will likely add more characters from The Force Awakens once the movie comes out.

There is even more information at the MakingStarWars site, so head over there if you want absolutely everything. I've hit the big notes here though.

As I said, this is all rumour and could all end up being false. In my experience though, when a site with a decent track record drops this much information, it is based in fact. Granted, those facts can get twisted, but I think it is okay to get excited about all of this.

Thanks to VG247 for the heads up.
