Saga #25 Returns With An Explosive Issue

Three cheers! Saga from Image Comics, written by Brian K. Vaughan, with art by Fiona Staples is back with an explosive issue #25. All of the characters you've come to know and love are now intertwined in a panic-ridden plot sure to capture your attention. As you know from reading the last issue, Hazel, Alana, and Klara have been separated from Marko due to the Robot Janitor Dengo's evil plan. Therefore, we get to experience an interesting combination of normally opposing forces such as an interaction between Prince IV and Marko who are both trying to get back to their children.

At the beginning of the issue we are given a look back to the historic events that happened during Landfall and Wreath's time of war. Vaughan, as always, writes a flawless script that shows how invested he is in this universe. With all retellings of events, we get to experience what it was like for our beloved characters in the past, and can understand their motivations as grown adults better. Hazel's narration guides us through the story with the same suspenseful tone, sprinkling in bits of torture for readers as the issue progresses. I will say that watching her character grow from an infant to toddler has already shown us so much, and she really is a guiding force for the progression of the series. As a reader, I hope that one day the narration will switch to present day so we can see how all of these events shaped her.

Fiona Staples continues to illustrate some of the most spectacular, creative, art I've ever seen. The wrap around cover alone is enough to make you fall in love. I can only imagine how funny it must be when Vaughan and Staples talk about designing certain scenes. It's been proven in the past that Saga definitely has some imaginative graphic panels, and in this issue, one scene in particular displays some of that. So, as you can see I've tried to keep this review as spoiler free as possible because I want to make sure that you guys get the full intense experience this issue brings to the table. As with all issues of Saga, the cliffhanger at the end will leave your eyes bulging out of your head itching for the next release. Good news is, it looks like we will be able to have a new release for the next couple of months. If you have yet to check out this series, you must! There are four trade paperbacks available, or a beautiful hardcover version that includes the first three trades.
