Image's Heaven – Humans + Angels Vs. Aliens + A Dash Of Religion?

James Robinson (The Saviors) and Philip Tan (Spawn, Uncanny X-Men) are joining forces to create a dystopian tale from Image entitled, Heaven, which takes a refreshing spin on the common good vs. evil war, according to Image Expo. A team of humans and aliens conquer earth by using religion, and now wish to invade Heaven as well. What will transpire between man vs. angel may threaten all of reality itself.

Robinson spoke about Heaven and said,

"I'm super excited to be undertaking this storyline, combining political satire along with amazing science-fiction worlds and all out space war between mankind's forces and Heaven's winged order."

As I read this book's press release, I found myself tilting my head to the side with a combination of confusion and curiosity. Humans plus aliens versus angels? Okay, I can get on board with that. Earth was conquered by religion? What that means, is beyond me… However, I will say that I want to find out. After reading what Robinson said about the book, I feel like Heaven has the potential to be mind-blowing, but a concept like this has to be gone over with a fine-tooth comb. Otherwise, there could be plot holes galore. Hopefully Robinson and Tan will cover all of their bases and deliver an epic new series. The cover art looks pretty amazing! I look forward to seeing more.  The war is projected to begin in 2015.
