Bleeding Cool Bestseller List – 23rd November 2014 – Singing The Same Spider-Verse

Amazing_Spider-Man_Vol_3_10

This is the Top Ten Bleeding Cool Bestseller List, as compiled by a number of comic stores from their sales on Wednesday and Thursday. It measures what are known as the "Wednesday Warriors", those who can't wait to the weekend to get this week's comics. We salute you, and the keenness you bring to your passion.

Somehow, shock horror, the Bleeding Cool Bestseller List got missed out last week. So today we'll run two! Here's the first, from last week, with not only Amazing Spider-Man returning to prominence with Spider-Verse, but also Justice League. And Harley Quinn only managed to outsell Uncanny X-Men. Only.

  1. Amazing Spider-Man #10
  2. Justice League #36
  3. Axis #6
  4. Batman & Robin #36
  5. Batman Eternal #33
  6. Guardians of the Galaxy #21
  7. Harley Quinn #12
  8. Uncanny X-Men #28
  9. Multiversity: Pax America #1
  10. Spider-Woman #1

Thanks to the following retailers:

Who had this to say,

Other then Harley Quinn taking the #1 spot this week, Marvel takes #2 through #10 spots in sales. DC weekly comics have come to almost a complete halt. Independents, mostly sale out but with order levels way below Marvel and Dc its very tough to crack the top ten this week.  However,  Wytches #1 overall top seller of the week with another 100+ copies sold.

Wednesday was a great sales day. Thursday not sure if the cold weather slowed things down or what. Or everyone just showed up Wednesday instead of waiting a day. Batman Eternal sold out. Batman and Robin sold out. Amazing Spiderman sold out. Guardians of the Galaxy sold out. With the Guardians at least I figured out it was because Venom was featured so well on the cover. The Amazing Spiderman crossover is selling very well. The Lego covers are still causing people to buy both the regular and Lego cover. People really like Legos.

Good sales week. Justice League is our #1 though DC had down week overall with only 3 titles in the top ten. They didn't have much chance against Spidey, both big Avengers and Guardians. Spider-Woman #1 sold very well and made our list, coming close to selling as much as Uncanny X-Men and Guardians.
DC's female titles did not fare nearly as well. Wonder Woman sold quite a bit less than its previous issue. No one seemed to notice Supergirl had a new creative team. Pax Americana was an issue a lot of people had been salivating for and it sold very well.

Thanks, Marvel! A lot of our customers are going to be getting a free copy of Inhuman #8 in their stocking! We certainly aren't able to sell this title..

Buffy comics sell like crazy at our store. It was our top ten's one non-BigTwo book for the week.

With holidays coming up I've been hearing the same question over and over again. What's a good book for kids that isn't too kiddy and isn't too adult? This one is very tricky considering everyone has a different definition of appropriate

Marvel ruled this week with Spider-Woman #1 and Amazing Spider-Man. I have not been hearing people complain about all the cross-over issues like other event books. Nice change of pace.
Ms Marvel. Captain Marvel. Spider-Woman.Harley Quinn. She-Hulk…pretty much anything with a female character has been moving on the back-issue market this week.

Pretty damn great week in comics! Marvel & DC both had some heavy hitters out this week! Fans are rabid for more Spider-verse and Amazing came in #1 here, even beating out AXIS. That coupled with Guardians made it a great Marvel week. But DC wasn't messing around either. The first Justice League with Johns & FABOK sold like mad and our customers were super happy that Fabok did the art in Batman Eternal this week. Invincible was a big topic of conversation this week too with fan favorite Battle Beast returning. All around great week!

Images Birthright 1 & 2 are two books that we have people coming in for like crazy. Online reviews and word of mouth are pushing that book like crazy, and rightfully so, because it's excellent! Death of Wolverine issues are still flying out of here too, but people are pretty lukewarm on the post-death series that Marvel are currently putting out.

(Sorry about last week. In NYC with no WiFi. And sorry about hitting enter early a minute ago)

Not a lot of excitement for Spider-Woman. Glad I didn't bite on the Manara. Otherwise a pretty standard week. Axis is slipping. All 3 DC weeklies make my Top 10 every week. Seen other retailers bemoaning them, but I love them. Lots of love for the Lego variants.
