Fox To Adapt BBC's Luther With Idris Elba Producing

BB241883@LUTHERThe BBC crime drama Luther is getting a U.S. remake by Fox who has given a rich put pilot commitment with a seven-figure penalty to the adaptation. The pilot is being written and executive produced by series creator Neil Cross. The BBC series star, Idris Elba, is on board to produce as well.

The series focuses on John Luther, a genius-level homicide detective whose brilliance can't always save him from the violence of his passions. The series ran for three seasons (14 episodes) before being brought to an end.

Adapting British crime dramas for U.S. television has not gone well overall with the most recent attempt Gracepoint, an adaptation of Broadchurch, is struggling in the ratings even though it was adapted by the series creator (Chris Chibnall) and retained the lead (David Tennant).
