Lucca – It's Like Two San Diegos In One

porkingLucca Comics & Games is a comic con held in Italy. It's big. How big? Well, for the show two weeks ago, they sold 240,000 tickets with around 400,000 visiting the city for events around the show.

Basically, that's two times San Diego. That's up from 218,000 and 380,000 last year…

Fumettologica broke down some numbers for us, with a few example of sales.

Webcomic Sio from Shockdom sold 3,500 copies of the new volume. And fellow webomic Sacred / Profane  from Dentiblù sold around 2000 copies of the new PurgatoryDrizzit from Shockdom sold 800 copies of the latest book, while Simple & Madame from Magic Press sold around 1300 copies of their recent volume, The Spark.

Bao Publishing reported sales at the show of around 7000 comics, of which 600 were re-releases of the work of Sergio Bonelli while another 900 were Saga by Brian K. Vaughan and Fiona Staples.

Shockdom sold around 10,000 volumes, including Angela Vianello's latest book Under Control. Aeon: 2 at 800 copies.

While The Porking Dead, a parody by Stefano Bonfanti and Barbara Barbieri published by Star Comics, sold around 1,300 copies.
