Assistant Editor

DC Comics seeks an Assistant Editor for the Editorial-Integrated Publishing department. Assists Editor in development and maintenance of DC comics, in-bound licensed comics, custom projects and kids comics. Edit special online titles or books as needed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assists Editor with development and production of DC Comics, in-bound licensed comics, custom projects, and kids line of comics.
  • Interacts with freelancers and various departments to ensure that the projects are moving through the appropriate departments as scheduled.
  • Works with licensees to ensure story content and quality are consistent and conform to licensee's and DC's standards.
  • Provides administrative and clerical support to Senior Editor (copying, filing, answering telephones/questions and monitoring deadlines).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Director, Sales Planning

DC Entertainment seeks a Director, Sales Planning for the Sales & Business Development department. The Director, Sales Planning oversees the unit forecasting, planning and reporting for all physical and digital publishing initiatives and products. He/she will work closely with field sales, Publishing (Content Strategy), Business Planning & Finance, Marketing and other departments to communicate demand so that appropriate quantities are incorporated into DCE financial and production plans (Final Print run numbers). This role will also works to create proper formatting, windowing and pricing strategies to maximize both long-term and short-term sales performance. This position tracks and manages the levels of on hand inventory and recommends strategies to maintain acceptable levels. Additionally, this position will oversee the activities of the Manager, Sales Planning who will be responsible for the aggregation and communication of all sales estimates for physical & digital publishing and DC Collectibles. This position will also supervise the creation of sales post mortems, market share reports, top selling products and other data as needed to track the performance and effectiveness of DC products in the marketplace.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide by issue unit estimates for Publishing slate, including:
    • Periodicals, collected editions.
    • Print & digital.
    • Frontlist & backlist.
  • Forecasts to support:
    • DCE financial budgets and monthly rolling forecasts.
    • New strategic initiatives.
    • New formats.
    • New channels.
    • Project greenlights.
  • Sales Reporting:
    • Develop and maintain database to capture and report unit sales data.
    • Provide scheduled and ad hoc unit sales reporting across all formats and channels.
  • Print Program: Backlist Inventory Management/Warehouse:
    • Manages and runs weekly inventory meeting.
    • Reviews weekly selection of titles for reprint decision.
    • Analyzes costs for reprinting backlist items; recommends cover price changes when necessary.
    • Reviews weekly print run information on first-run titles.
    • Recommends taking books out of print.
    • Manages destruction of obsolete inventory.
    • Maintains and communicates publishing standard established by management, ensuring that all publishing projects conform.
    • Working with Content Strategy, communicates windowing and format approvals for new projects, providing management with rough project profit/loss breakdowns to determine financial viability, as required.
    • Supervises timely issuing of all sales planning and production schedules.
    • Continues to develop advanced sales planning data base system.
    • Monitors and evaluates manufacturing and warehouse operations as they relate to order fulfillment.
    • Monitors operations and implement new systems as needed to maintain efficiency standards.

Manager, Publicity

E.C. Publications, Inc. seeks a Manager, Publicity for the Publicity department. The Manager, Publicity will be responsible for managing and executing publicity programs and campaigns for DC Entertainment's Publishing business across all three brands – DC Comics, Vertigo and MAD Magazine, including successfully placing previews, reviews and accolades for the company's comic books, graphic novels, collected editions and magazines with core comic trade press, bloggers and mainstream pop culture press.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement strategic publicity programs to achieve significant increase in book awareness, specific emphasis will be on DC Comics and Vertigo titles and releases.
  • Cultivate relationships with key journalists in national pop culture and comic trade outlets/publications .
  • Write interesting and effective press releases, pitch letters, blogs posts and media collateral.
  • Manage assets and organization of art images for publicity use.
  • Ensure collaboration, coordination and consistency of messaging, timing and exclusives news breaks with DCE's social media team.

Manager, Business Strategy & Planning

E. C. Publications, Inc. seeks a Manager, Business Strategy & Planning for the Finance department. Support the development and implementation of business strategies. Support the development and implementation of operational changes. Support business process improvement initiatives.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support DCE Executives to prioritize, develop and refresh key business strategies, such as Talent Strategy, Digital Strategy, International Strategy, etc.
  • Analyze relevant data such as competitive information, industry trends, and historical performance to develop sound forecasts in support of plans.
  • Develop business case for strategy that includes key assumptions, planned ROI, risks and upside to plan, etc.
  • Build and maintain financial models to project the impact of strategic initiatives in support of the business case.
  • Work with Sales & Business Development to evaluate the financial impact of new business opportunities.
  • Update DCE's overall Business Plan as required.

  • Maintain project plans, milestone metrics and timeline to implement new processes.
  • Maintain reports used to update stakeholders and DCE Executives on progress and any risks identified.
  • Support DCE Executives to identify opportunities for business process improvement.
  • Analyze current state processes to ensure alignment with DCE's Strategic direction and identify areas for increased efficiencies.
  • Develop business case, including financial impact, of proposed process efficiencies.
  • Support in the development of future state processes and plans to implement process change.
  • Work with other WB departments (i.e. HR, MIS, EFS, FCRA, etc) on change proposals as necessary.
  • Develop or improve financial projection models and processes (i.e., financial greenlight, by-title projections).
  • Maintain project plans, milestone metrics and timeline to implement new processes.

Manager, Community & Social Media

 

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Inc. seeks a Manager, Community & Social Media for the Marketing department. The Manager, Community & Social Media is responsible for overseeing and executing Social Media and CRM campaigns supporting all of WBIE's Kids and Casual console, handheld and mobile game releases. The position develops, creates and oversees implementation of all social media strategies supporting both the Core and New Initiative LEGO teams, along with other Kids and Casual products. The manager is also responsible for developing and cultivating various high-level cross-company & external partnerships tied to social media activities.
