Kodansha Comics Announces, At New York Comic Con

Magazinspecial9by Ale Bodden

Once again Kodansha Comics makes its presence be known by announcing many upcoming titles and new titles for some on-going series. The panel included host Ben Applegate, Kana Koide (general manager), and Editor Johnny.

Jumping straight to the point they announced new licensed titles that will be coming out soon. If you like CLAMP you better start partying, Tsubasa World Chronicles (new story on the Tsubasa universe) Vol. 1 will be coming out on 2015; the original Tsubasa will also be released in omnibus format soon. There will, also, be a brand new story featuring Wendy Marvel from Fairy Tail starting in 2015 as well.

Another new story coming out in 2015 will be LDK by Ayu Watanabe, a romance. Also, from the creator of Gantz, Hiruya Oku, we will be seeing a new mind-bending sci-fi called Inuyashiki; it will be coming out during Fall in 2015. Applegate also announced a new, 3-volumes long short story by Natsumi Ando coming out in Spring next year called Let's Dance a Waltz. Joining the Spring release we also have Yamada-Kun and the Seven Witches, Maria the Virgin Witch by Masayuki, and an emotional story of a deaf girl from the perspective of her bully: A Silent Voice, by Yoshitoki Oima.

Applegate thanked all Attack on Titan fans for making Vol. 1 a NYT Bestseller for 68 weeks and over 1.5 million copies printed in English. For the Attack on Titan fans there are two boxed sets coming out for the holidays: one with the spin-off books (No Regrets, Before the Fall, and Junior High), and the second boxed set will be The Beginning (volumes 1-4). Volume 3 of Before The Fall will be coming out on December 9th. Volume 2 of Attack on Titan: Junior High will be coming out, both in print and digitally, in November- where we will be seeing Titan Dogeball, Titan Rock Band, Titan love letters, and much more…

There will, also, be a Omnibus version of Attack on Titan coming out soon- it will hold volumes 1-5, and is the first in the world to collect 15 color pages of covers on great paper quality. Attack on Titan: No Regrets will be only two volumes long, and vol. 2 will be coming out on October 28th on print and digital as well. They will also be releasing the Attack on Titan Guide about how the manga and anime were created (in Japan)- this will be a single volume of 344 pages and over 16 colored pages. It will also include a bit of the original rough draft and interviews with Isayama and editor Tetsuro. This will also include a Titan paper-craft section toward the end.

Kodansha Comics will be releasing vol. 2 of The Heroic Legend of Arslan on November 4th- an adventure manga from the creator of Full Metal Alchemist and Silver Spoon. They will, also, release an Omnibus version of CLAMP's xxxHolic Rei, and vol. 5 of The Seven Deadly Sins. Books 1-5 of Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga are all available now– it is the most acclaimed new action manga and filled with beautiful art.

For those who do not know: there will be a live-action Attack on Titan movie coming out next year, hopefully. And the Fairy Tail playing cards are being translated and will be released, here in the US, in December.
