Grant Morrison *Was* Going To Write Spawn Again

635483842054672093-Spawn250-COV-USA-balloonOne story we ran just before San Diego Comic Con kicked off was that Grant Morrison was going to write the Spawn series, after his brief three-issue run back in the nineties. The news was not announced at the show – and nor was it announced at New York Comic Con. Instead it was announced that Brian Wood would be writing the book, Spawn Resurrected and then the ongoing series, with artist Jonboy Meyers.

So did I get it totally wrong? I presumed so.

Until I was told by one very senior source that a number of artists had been approached to draw the book, and sold on the idea that it would be written by Morrison.

And at New York one of the Image partners accosted me to ask how I'd found out about Morrison, as they were aware that the phone call accepting the gig had occurred merely hours before.

As to why it didn't work out, and how Brian Wood took the gig instead, maybe that's a tale for another convention.

So, Bleeding Cool was wrong. But at the time, we were right…. honest!
